SMartS project

In recent years, teaching has progressively shifted towards integrated educational models capable of overcoming traditional disciplinary divisions and responding to the complexity of knowledge and contemporary society. In this context, there is a clear need to promote educational programmes based on active, investigative and interdisciplinary approaches, in which learning becomes an experiential, participatory and reflective process.
Within this framework, the approach promoted by SMartS is an innovative teaching tool that applies the logic of scientific inquiry to the study of art, perception and aesthetic communication. Born from the encounter between experimental methodology and aesthetic reflection, the SMArtE method develops a path divided into phases, from the identification of a problem to the formulation of hypotheses, the design and construction of stimuli, the collection and discussion of results, and the drafting of a scientific article, which involves students as active protagonists in the learning process (Student Projects).  It is active, measurable, interdisciplinary teaching. It is an ecosystem that naturally involves: Art, Mathematics and Geometry, Science, Technology, Italian and Languages, Psychology.
Following SMartS also means joining a network that values key European skills, transversal skills and real soft skills (collaboration, widespread leadership, project management, autonomy, resilience, effective communication). Interaction with experts and professionals makes learning “situated”: students experience what it means to research and create, with responsibility and motivation.
SMartS aims to be a community of practice, an editorial laboratory, an international bridge and a driver of educational innovation (about SMartS).
